Toyoda Gosei North America Corporation Purchases California Automotive Sealing
Troy, Mich., January, 10, 2003 — Effective November 22, 2002, Toyoda Gosei North America Corporation,
North American Headquarters of Toyoda Gosei Co. Ltd., acquired 100 percent of the shares of California
Automotive Sealing (CAS) Inc. CAS was previously an equally owned joint venture of Metzeler Automotive
Profile Systems (MAPS) and Toyoda Gosei. The company name will be changed to TG California Automotive
Sealing (TGCAS), Inc. to reflect the new ownership.
“The recent transfer of ownership to Toyoda Gosei North America Corporation will allow us to unify our body sealing
operations,” said Atsunori Murata, president, Toyoda Gosei North America Corporation. “We are pleased to add TGCAS to our North
American operations and continue our manufacturing capabilities on the West coast.”
TGCAS, which was established in 1996, employs approximately 160 people and manufactures body-sealing
products for NUMMI. In addition to TGCAS, Toyoda Gosei manufactures automotive sealing products in
three other locations in North America: Hopkinsville, Kentucky; Quebec, Canada; and Ontario, Canada.
Michio Kuzuhara, president, TG California Automotive Sealing added, “Working with Toyoda Gosei’s
North American operations will provide TGCAS with the opportunity to commonize business systems and
better serve our customers.”
