Toyoda Gosei Celebrates 30 Years in the Americas

October 9, 2017

Troy, Mich., October 9, 2017: On October 7, 2017, Toyoda Gosei (TG), a leading automotive supplier, celebrated its 30th anniversary in the Americas. Automotive manufacturers, government officials and community members joined TG executives to honor the milestone at TG’s plant in Perryville, Missouri. Guests of honor included Olympic Gold Medalist Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Missouri Senator Wayne Wallingford and Perryville Mayor Ken Baer.

“The last 30 years in the Americas have been marked by tremendous growth, flourishing customer relationships and continued dedication to high-quality products,” said Yoshiyuki Fujita, president of Toyoda Gosei North America Corporation. “As we look to the future, we plan to continue to invest in the region, work hard to train and develop our workforce, and create products that contribute to vehicle safety, comfort, convenience and fuel efficiency.”

In 1987, the company’s first ever greenfield location outside of Japan – TG Missouri Corporation (TGMO ) – started production in Perryville, Missouri, with only 17 employees and one product area. Since then, TG in the Americas has expanded to 25 locations throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Brazil, with approximately 12,000 employees manufacturing parts in five distinct product areas. The Americas locations have grown to be an important part of TG’s global business, bringing in more than $2 billion in sales in 2016.

As the first location built in the Americas, TGMO continues to serve as a leader in the region. TGMO is TG’s largest facility in the world, spanning 1.7 million ft2, with some of the most advanced manufacturing processes TG offers. TGMO also oversees operations at two other TG Americas locations, creating consistency and excellence across the region.

“TG Missouri prides itself on its best-in-class manufacturing, checking every part that leaves our plant to guarantee it meets our high standards. Our employees are dedicated to their craft and strive for the highest quality every day,” said Todd Huber, president of TG Missouri Corporation. “It is with the strong commitment from our team members, the collaboration with our partners, and the support from the city of Perryville that we were able to reach this milestone and will continue to thrive in the future.”

In the next year, TGMO plans to invest more than $17.6 million in plant upgrades. These investments will further TGMO’s commitment to quality and ensure the company continues to meet the growing needs of the industry. In addition to plant upgrades, TG Missouri has also committed funds to enhancing the local community. At the celebration ceremonies on October 7, TGMO, with the help of Jackie Joyner-Kersee, unveiled a public 5K trail built on its property. The company plans to donate the trail to the City of Perryville, and plans to further invest in the walkway in the coming years by installing seating, water fountains, art and more in the future.
